A popular Korean fantasy series is officially making the jump to television. SSS-Class Revival Hunter has been confirmed as a TV anime, with the series scheduled to premiere in January 2027.
A Popular Korean Fantasy Series Gets an Anime
The series follows Kim Gong-ja, an F-rank hunter who lives at the bottom of a dangerous world filled with monsters and hunters. His life changes after he obtains a mysterious S+ rank copy skill that activates upon his death.
He eventually forms an unusual partnership with the Sword Emperor, a legendary hunter who becomes his guardian spirit. Together, they begin a journey from the bottom of the rankings toward the top of the mysterious Tower.
The Original Series Already Has a Huge Fanbase
The anime isn’t starting from an unknown property. The original novel and SMARTOON have already built a substantial following.
The manga began serialization on Piccoma in 2022 and has consistently ranked highly in its fantasy category. It has accumulated more than 25 million likes, giving the upcoming anime a significant audience before its first episode even airs.
A Strong Creative Team Is Behind the Adaptation
The anime will be directed by Hiroaki Sakurai, known for The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. The script will be written by Koyuri Oba, while Takahiro Yoshimatsu is responsible for character designs.
Animation production will be handled by the emerging studio fu.
The main cast includes Takeo Otsuka as Kim Gong-ja and Satoshi Hino as the Sword Emperor. Hino described his character as energetic and optimistic, while also highlighting the interactions between the two characters alongside the series’ action and psychological battles.
January 2027 Could Be the Start of a Major Breakout
The combination of a popular source material, an unusual death-based ability and a protagonist who has to rely on strategy rather than straightforward power makes SSS-SSS-Class Revival Hunter an interesting addition to the growing wave of Korean fantasy adaptations.
With its TV anime scheduled for January 2027, the series now has a chance to introduce Kim Gong-ja’s strange journey to an entirely new audience.
