The fourth season of Re:ZERO has officially concluded, and the anime has left fans with a major new development involving Rem.
Season 4 reached its finale on September 30, 2026, with Episode 19 airing as an extended 45-minute special.
The episode concluded the Recapture Arc, which formed the second half of the season after the earlier Loss Arc.
Studio WHITE FOX returned to animate the season, with Masahiro Shinohara directing and Haruka Sagawa handling character design and chief animation direction.
Following the broadcast, the official franchise released a new epilogue visual featuring Rem.
The image carries the emotional message, “Rem, I missed you so much” and shows Rem after the events of the Pleiades Watchtower storyline.

Rem’s status has been one of the longest-running mysteries in the anime. Her memories were erased following the events involving the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony, leaving Subaru desperate to find a way to restore what was lost. Season 4 finally pushed that storyline toward a major turning point.
The finale does not simply reset the situation to the way it was before Rem’s memory loss.
Instead, her return creates another emotional challenge for Subaru and establishes new circumstances for the story moving forward.
The anime therefore ends the season with important questions still open rather than providing a complete resolution to every mystery surrounding the characters.
The fourth season is particularly significant for the franchise because 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of the Re:ZERO television anime.
The original series premiered in 2016, and the franchise has continued to expand through additional seasons, movies, novels and other projects.
The original light novel series has also continued well beyond the material currently adapted by the anime.
The official publishing site lists Volume 45 as having been released in June 2026, showing that the source material remains far ahead of the television adaptation.
As of October 2, there is no official Season 5 announcement.
The Season 4 ending clearly leaves the story open for further adaptation, but any specific release date circulating online should be treated as unconfirmed.
For now, the biggest takeaway is that Season 4 has ended and Rem’s awakening has opened another major chapter for Subaru.
